Underbody protection

The underbody is the area of a vehicle most exposed to weathering and stone chipping and therefore requires long-term flexible protection against corrosion.

Challenge

  • Not all components on the underbody are adequately protected against corrosion
  • Stone chipping and corrosion load often varies greatly over the underbody
  • Damage to the cathodic dip coating or other passivation or corrosion protection layers caused by stone chipping leads to corrosion in the presence of water and salt

Solution

  • Coating of the underbody with a thick, long-term flexible protective coating that absorbs the energy of the stones.
  • The material creeps into small gaps and small holes and closes them, thus forming a barrier against water and salt and preventing corrosion
  • Use of an air-drying system

Benefit

  • Universal and easy to use
  • Lower maintenance costs and higher safety due to protection of structural integrity and components functions
  • Easy re-preservation due to high compatibility with various substrates and contaminated surfaces
  • Drying of the system to a film without additional energy input
