Underbody protection
The underbody is the area of a vehicle most exposed to weathering and stone chipping and therefore requires long-term flexible protection against corrosion.
Challenge
- Not all components on the underbody are adequately protected against corrosion
- Damage to the KTL or other primary corrosion protection layers by stone chips leads to corrosion in the presence of water and salts
Solution
- Coating of the underbody with a thick long-term flexible protective coating that cushions stone impacts.
- The creep-resistant material closes gaps and small holes, thus forming a barrier against water and salt and preventing corrosion
- Use of an air-drying system
